Wow, Counzo decides to stay and /or Marquette turned HIM down. . . Now he goes back to a fan base who doesnt want him back and to a school He obviously doesnt want to be. . . .Not a warm and fuzzy story and Im sure it will give future recruits a reason to be very hesitant . . .
Where are you Jay ? running a newspaer sports department ? to much stuff, we need your feedback !
WOW is right what a great NCAA tourney ! great games, buzzer beaters, story lines, etc. . . . If the Conz can get another job he WILL leave, and who can blame him ? The UTK Vol fans have treated him like @#$%, Dave Hart never came out during petition-gate and offered even a word of support and then Dave Hart made an @#$ of himself by hugging Cuonzo only when the TV cameras were on him after the Mercer game. . .again its amazing that Vol fans hate a coach who has WON 60% of games and love a coach, Butchy who LOST 60% of his games !.... .also Jay, do you think Holly Warlick is just Derek Dooley in a pants suit ?
Mark, I love you brother , But . . .Yes Florida was the #1 seed in tourney and yes Kentucky may have been under-seeded, but the rest of the SEC was NOT very good , at all . . . .just because UCONN is in the Final Four, that doesnt mean that the American Athletic Conference was all that good either. Anything can happen in a tourney format. Teams dont have to be better than other teams, just be better for ONE game. I dont think that means if Kentucky is better than Michigan ONE time that means that Missisippi State was under-rated all season . .the rest of the SEC really stunk
To bad with the way the UTK fans treated Cuonzo with petition to replace him with Pearl. I'm sure the players and coaching staff did not feel good about sharing this run with the fans. And good for Cuonzo if he leaves and takes a better job than UTK. . . . .not much of a warm and fuzzy story
March Madness has been great. Tonights games should be fun. . . .To bad for UTK Vol fans, they dont seem to be enjoying this run with their hatred for Cuonzo Martin. Those fans are stupid considering that even a sweet 16 run is never a consistent thing, even for the best of programs. You better enjoy it while you can even if you hate your coach and sign petitions to have him replaced. You got to beleive that Cuonzo cant wait to get a better job and get out of there, at this point he loves his players and doesnt like his fans, and you cant blame him. And his players love and now seem to be playing hard for him and the players probably hate the Vol fans also. Not a very warm and fuzzy story
When the Unions take over that represent these players i.e. Pipeftters, Teamsters, whoever those groups wont be interested in getting a player a few bucks of a jersey sale, Those Unions will be after 40% to 50% of the TV money that is feeding the explosion of college football. Many of the SEC schools that are spending money, building facilities and paying coaches millions are doing so based on future TV revenues. Those schools and those conferences could be in serious trouble if they are going to have to give up a large perecentage or in some cases ANY percentage of those revenues. . . .this could ultimately kill the SEC and other big time conference schools
The Unions who these athletes will be joining are not in this for small things like workman's comp and spending money. The unions will be after the holy grail REVENUE SHARING. and if they get a piece of that pie like MLB or NFL it will cripple schools in the SEC who are building facilities and spending money based on projections of future TV dollars and no thoughts of sharing those dollars with the unions and players . . . if the unions can kill Detriot and General Motors the Unions can certainly kill the SEC and big time college football . . . .change is coming
If the Unions can kill Detroit and General Motors, the Unions can definitely kill the SEC and College Football
And Jay, it also is not unrealistic If the unions win and demand a revenue sharing similar to MLB, NFL, etc there wont be an SEC, there will be no need for conferences . . .as you say that March Madness drives other revenue and the big schools break away and all 64 big schools go to the tourney, there would be no need for conferences
