Oh sorry I was so busy reading the bad names that I missed your question about picks. Yes we should get another pick. The line up is never final until 5:30 on Derby day itself.

So for those of us that picked Uncle Mo, do we get another pick?

Been a busy day at the Kburg/ WC777 house. Just wanted to say that the 5 at 10 pick of Derby Kitten is amazing. I was reading over some pre Derby stuff and read that Derby Kitten finished his last race on dirt 27.5 lengths behind the rest of the field. Too bad I hadn't yet seen the info on Toby's Corner when I made my picks.

Can you imagine what it sounded like in the board room that decided to differentiate between the "traditional" double header and the "modern" double header? Guess they gotta keep the 8 million plus lights on at Turner Field somehow. Heaven knows that GA Power is cutting them any slack with the bills.

Oh and I meant for Pure Ina One and Kates Cold Feet two be separate names. Some how my laptop started acting funny and I guess the comma got deleted. One was offensive on the dog food front and the other a jab at the Royal Wedding.

One more note: WC triple 7s is currently not able to post so he requested I post his picks for him. He choses Pants On Fire to win and Watch Me Go to be the last across the finish line.

Good job on the Derby Kitten pick. Not even available as of this AM. Impressive.

Are you looking for real names or which can we create? Real names: I tried to limit to 10, but just read the article. http://therail.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/05/20/worst-named-horses/

Fake: Pure Ina One Kates Cold Feet

I'm sure Pants on Fire will have many siblings and half siblings, doubt any of them will have a name like his, but here's to hoping that his firstborn is named Pants on the Ground.

OH and I am dying laughing at the idea of the conniption Nick Saban would have if the NCAA investigated 'Bama over women's tennis.

Aww. Thanks 5 at 10! For the Derby challenge I am going to have to go with Uncle Mo and in what may seem a blasphemous move am picking Shackleford for last (his jockey's name is Jesus.) If I had a trifecta to pick, I'd go with Uncle Mo, Pants On Fire, and either Archarcharch or Dialed In. Archarcharch and Dialed In have had some pretty dazzling performances in races this year. One would also be wise to throw Twice the Appeal in their bets as he is ridden by Calvin Borel who won last year on Supersaver and seems to own the Churchill Downs track. I wouldn't be sad to see Mucho Macho Man win either, as he has connections to Atlanta, making him a kinda-sorta-not-really hometown hero. Of course there are the longshot entries that no one has heard of until the actual field was announced not too long ago. Those include Decisive Moment, Brilliant Speed (kind of ironic since nothing brilliant has been noted about his speed as a two year old or in any other stakes races), Shackleford, and Twinspired (do you think his owners were trying to suck up to Churchill Downs officials from the time this horse was born?). Sorry for the long ramble about some big fast prancy ponies. I love the Triple Crown like the 5 at 10 loves the draft.
