I may be reading into this all wrong but didnt the article say that a USDA report was filed for these claims way before Hank passed away? Jan 14th or something like that. I think that the media caught wind of it from that report and decided to use Hanks death as a time to get the word out. Its unfortunate timing I agree on that, but it seems like everyone is making it out to be just about Hank when the complaint was clearly filed before Hank passed away. An furthermore I am glad she got the word out about being fired I think its terrible that they did that to her for exercising her right of freedom of speech!!! Once again I think its not about her at all its about people's rights and about the animals who are now dead and cannot speak for themselves.

OMG!!! The Audit report was CRAZY! They still let Friends of the Zoo take over? And let Mrs. Long run it? I may not understand all the legal mumbo jumbo but it looks like she was taking an extra pay check from a not for profit organization, and using city funds and city employees for her not for profit organization!!!! All while Friends of the Zoo got to keep all the profit from sales and admission fees. NO WONDER THE CITY WAS LOOSING MONEY INVESTING IN THE ZOO!!! WOW this one really opened my eyes. Whew.....

I agree, I too used to volunteer at McKamey and all the employees never ever spoke to us much at all. They all seemed as if talking about opinions and feelings where not allowed. Every week there was a new employee and a stream of employees that where fired. Again I don't know all the details because we volunteers where kept out of the loop, but I did notice the turnover rate seemed high. And it did seem like people are walking on egg shells there.

I agree with jpo3136 I thought the exact same thing when I saw this article. What the heck happened to freedom of speech!!! She said nothing about McKamey in the article only the zoo, had the article stated something about McKamey policies and procedures then I could understand, but come on she was interviewed for an article by the times free press about how to introduce a kitty to your home, and then this zoo article. Neither of which made McKamey look bad. Till this one!!!! Come on people give me a break!!! You really need to go after someone else who is actually breaking rules and stop going after people who are exercising their rights and not hurting your institution at all. Well till now. I do believe this makes McKamey look worse, if thats even possible.

The other article in question is:

Chattapets: Helping cats adjust to new homes a gradual process

This article really makes McKamey look bad let me tell you. I was shocked that she answered questions about something so serious. You should have fired her before just for this article. (SARCASM)
