this is not a society issue. this incident had been going on for a while and the police did nothing proactively to prevent the incident from escalating. The Chattanooga police department took in the police reports without actually investigating the issue and it happens all the time in housing projects and its the same thing that goes on in schools when kids are being bullied. If a suburban resident continuously called the police claiming they were being bothered by a resident some action would take place to ensure this would not continue to happen. but the housing projects are constanly being put into this box labled ghetto, insignificant, and a waste of time and money. Its easy to have your opiions on who should watch the kids and gang violence is out of control. but this, like many other incidents that happens in the city are mislabled to be gang related when it is not. There were no gangs representing colors or sides of town, or even streets. There was a desperate woman looking for a breath of fresh air from the sickening surrounding she could afford to shelter her kids. And there were kids who are forced to survive as adults and dont know the basic rules of society. ijs, this like alot of incidents in this city could have been prevented. but the people ask for proactive policing and we get profiling, we ask for protection and we get harassment. We ask for our voices to be heard when we are lost and dont know what else to do. ask yourselves what really happens when a young woman goes to the police station with a criminal record of her own in tow and asks for the police to protect her. it should be obvious, nothing happens and justice was taken in the hands of children. Now they want to investigate?? why is there a budget for proactive policing if they cant even sniff out a potential hostile situation when it gets presented to them?? Kids cant be blamed, single mothers cant be everywhere at once, and sixty percent of the minority male population is incarcerated. Quit talking and do something to help these people. Christmas is coming and stresses are rising. The kids in the hood can appreciate a Santa Clause too even though we never had chimneys.
