The Morning after pill sometimes called Plan B depends on where you are in your cycle whether it blocks conception or whether it prevents the zygote(union of sperm and egg) to successfully implant into the uterine wall and therefore the zygote cannot get nourishment and continue to grow. I agree with comments from JoPeck. Plan B is not meant to be taken routinely and this does not address STD etc. The failure rate of contraception for a variety of reasons should make one give pause and re examine this not to mention the financial issues involved. The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over and expect different results.

The Dems know full well that the Hyde Amendment only refers to medicaid funding and so their statement is not correct. Even if it was true, why would they oppose a restatement of the fact. It is because they are supportive of the abortion industry, that's why. Also, everyone who has studied the issue for five minutes knows that to say the health of the woman is defined in very broad terms to mean any reason including not wanting to continue the pregnancy. Again double speak. Since rape and incest make up less than 1% of the abortions that is decptive also. If a woman wants an abortion she may use private funds, or a private insurance policy that is not subsidized by tax dollars the way the new healthcare bill will be through exchanges. Overwhelmingly Americans AND Tennesseans object to using their tax dollars to pay for abortions. Healthcare is supposed to be life saving not life destruction. In short, abortion is not healthcare

Your fast fact is incomplete....the Hyde Amendment refers to medicaid funding. It does not apply to new legislation such as this new healthcare bill. Therefore, insurance purchased through these new exchanges that will be subsidized with tax dollars offers abortions, that would mean that tax dollars would finance abortions. This bill is necessary. If a woman wants an abortion she may use private funds or a private insurance plan that covers abortion that is not covered by the exchange which uses tax dollars.

What is unacceptable is that a court could throw out laws that our elected legislators put into place such as informed consent and that late term abortions must be performed in hospitals due to the risk to the women. Also, we cannot even require the licensing and regulation of abortion facilities. this is outrageous! This is about more than partial birth abortion. If this came to a floor vote it would pass. That is what they are afraid of.Worse still they are afraid to let the people of TN vote. Some representative government! How many have sold their soul to the well funded abortion industry. SHAME
