It a shame that Dixon is putting up a good fight for Enterprise South and she really doesnt seem to understand what she is fighting for. Why Enterprise South deer?Whats so special about these deer? Are they cuter than the cow in the hamburger bun? Do they have more feelings than the chicken in the nugget? There is a big misunderstanding about what a hunter is.Yes there are the few who like to call themselves"trophy hunters" but the majority are true outdoorsman. The people who desire to be in the great outdoors runs thru their very soul and must immerse themselvesin all of the bountys that nature has to offer.Hunters are the true conservationist. This go bak to Teddy Roosevelt,a legendary sportsman, who established conservation programs and wildlife preserves. Conservation groups were and stiil are composed primarily of hunters to secure the restoration of Americas wildlife for future generations. The Federal Aid In Wildlife Act was passed to fund this restoration. This is a tax placed on hunting equipment(guns,ammo,bows,etc..)that is put right back into conservation.Everytime a hunter makes a purchase 11% of that is distributed to state agencies to support wildlife management programs and to purchase public land(parks for example)This amounts to nearly 200 million dollars making hunters, yes thats hunters, one of the largest contributers to conservation. So one of your favorite parks to jog or ride your bike in was very well made possible by hunters not vegans with pickets(which by the way i was a vegan for 16 years). I know everytime i pull a frozen pack of venison from my freezer i remember that deer and give thanks for providing nourishment for my family. Hunters want to protect the very animals that provide the ultimate in clean, organic, healthy eating. And just in case you were thinking that hunters were wasteful then check into Hunters For the Hungry. In Tennessee they collected 65,0000lbs of venison to go into local food banks and soup kitchens!Whats been your contribution? National Geographic has an interesting comment"The irony is many species might not survive if it were not for the hunters who hunt them". Sportsman want to see future generations enjoy themselves in the great outdoors and reaping natures bounty just as they have with proper land and animal management. So the next time you are out hiking on public land enjoying the sights and sounds of birds and wildlife remember that it was made possible by sportsman. And if you need a "real" conservation group to join there are nearly 10,000 sportsman club who generate another 300 million dollars a year for wildlife programs(NWTF,Ducks Unlimited,NRA,RMEF,etc...) So the next time you bump into a guy or gal sporting camo dont forget to say thanks!!! Who am i...a mom, nature lover, hunter!!!!
