And even a person being in shock at that point hes liable to do anything...harm a person..harm himself....due to his friend getting killed.But there should have been a better way to calm the person down before just taking him down.Coming onto a scene and not knowing all the details CPD dont know if he is just a witness..suspect..or victim and react on instinct.At that point they dont care if you are in shock they just care about detaining this person that has blood all over him and is tense and shaky right now.what i want to know then what was his initial reason for wanting to detain this witness?
It was just an opinion that he was probably trying to put him in the car to go downtown to be further questioned due to him having blood on him and the witness didnt want to go and probably went ham on the officer and the officer went ham back.Like I said it is a shor story with very few details so all were doing now is what....assuming what happened.
No you cant judge based on a short story cause we dont know if it was self defense or he was refusing to be questioned by the police.and due to circumstances him having blood on him gave police probable cause to furthur innterogate him. Thats what due process is for.Iam not for gunslingers, all im saying is beating up the witness or other is not gone rid violence or make it the situation better.Their is a code of conduct you have to maintain and if that person is guilty he will be punished.But I sure its hard for an officer of the law to uphold that in a heated situation but we all have to put personal differences aside when we are in the professional feild.But heck after this we probably will never know the true story.Its gone be in the judges hands to decide.
I know the police has a right to be upset after one of their own got killed,but taking it out on witnesses before you can every question them properly is just not right.Beating a witness is not going to bring Chapin back nor rid the city of violence.Just because you are accusing someone of something doesnt mean you have the right to beat then down cause your upset.An innnocent man will get justice and you will have a law suit coming your way.
