No matter how good a doctor is, he or she can still make mistakes. This jury obviously thought that the doctor who performs these kinds of procedures all the time had a better understanding of what constituted an emergency than his patient. If the patient was unsure, the first step should be to call the doctor, which she did-twice. She was under his care. As for excessive, health care costs are astronomical today. I imagine that it costs quite a bit to care for a woman who can't ever care for herself- for the remainder of her life. I say good job to the jury for making a hard choice that reinforces the notion that doctors aren't infallible and patients have rights too.
