Yeah, the state is going to try to force Amazon to collect sales tax if it builds here. The only thing that will happen is that Amazon will abandon their distribution centers and move them and the jobs to a "friendlier" state. Then they can sell items to Tennessee residents and not collect the sales tax anyways. They are already doing that in Texas. The jobs are more important than the sales tax. Go ahead and chase the jobs away. Walmart, Bestbuy and Autozone can gain the same advantage. Just close all your stores and become an internet retailer. Amazon is not the threat that these big-box retailers claim it is. You cannot walk in the door of an Amazon distribution center and buy something, therefore it does not have a retail presence in Tennessee. People do not shop at Amazon just to get out of paying sales tax. They typically have lower prices so maybe Walmart and others need to match Amazons prices first, then they can complain.

Yeah, just go and chase those companies out of the state along with the jobs that they are bringing. That really sounds like a good idea (note sarcasm). So what if Amazon is not going to be required to collect sales tax. If they built their facilities in Georgia they would not be collecting Tennessee sales tax anyways. So let them bring the jobs here and don't force them to collect sales tax. It's still good for the state. It puts people to work who will then spend their paychecks in Tennessee and they will pay sales tax on everything they buy anyways. This is basic common sense.

WHAT ABOUT JOBS? We need JOBS, JOBS, JOBS. Why are you Republicans wasting time on issues that do not matter at this time. Most of what you want to do will be over turned in courts anyways. What employer is going to want to move to Tennessee when their employees can keep a GUN in their vehicle so that when they get pissed at their boss they can go get it out of their car and KILL the boss or coworkers that they are mad at. Businesses have the right to determine what items an employee carries or has on that businesses PRIVATE PROPERTY. Guns do not belong on any school or college. Overturning any discrimination law will end up in court with the state paying a major legal bill. Don't be wasting my tax dollars by having to hire lawyers to defend dumb laws. The "birther" issue? THE STATE OF HAWAII ISSUED OBAMA'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE, this is not an issue and is a waste of tax dollars even talking about it and the Republican governor of Arizona already vetoed their bill as "over reaching". When you Republicans get done the states debt will be as large as the federal government and we will not have any jobs at all. At least it will be another 100 years until you control the state of Tennessee again. START WORKING ON REAL ISSUES LIKE GETTING MORE COMPANIES TO RELOCATE IN TENNESSEE SO THAT WE THE CITIZENS OF THIS STATE CAN GET BACK TO WORK. JOBS NOW, JOBS NOW, JOBS NOW!!!!!!!!

Another fine, high quality foreign made product. When are people going to wake up and realize that products made in other countries are dangerous and of sub-standard quality?

The minute a teacher says "God" created us and the world I will see the teacher, the school district and any state representative in Federal Court for violating the Constitution. State law will not protect anyone there because the federal law strictly states that there will be a separation of church and state. Public school is a part of the state NOT part of the church. If you want your child taught to believe a fantasy then send them to a church based school. It is the parents right and responsibility to teach religion to their child.

Typical Republican. Why is it that they get 11% but yet teachers only got 1.6%? The rich looking out for the rich while everyone else suffers. Make him pay, boycott Pilot and vote him out of office.

The lesson to be learned from this article is that every time you elect a pro-business, anti-worker, ultra right wing Republican into any office you the American worker will suffer. Get use to it because all they have done since getting into office in November is pass union busting bills so that workers will not have the right to demand better pay and benefits. We are quickly headed back to the late 1800's and early 1900's because of them.
