Great Police work...they arrested this bastard on July 15, and now they are looking for him. Whats with the reporter? "and especially aggrevated robbery" I guess thats more important than felony murder. WOW!

now that we got the prostitutes and the mushroom eating offenders taken care of do you think we can focus your resources on the shootings?

This man shoots at the police and he is in jail, thats good. But what if this same man shot at someone else....it would read no suspects at this time. The police watch their own back and thats it people and i suggest you all do the same if you dont want to become a statistic.

Lack of a police presence...I was out on a service call on Sunday night. My GPS brought me through all the worst parts of town to get to my destination ( I didnt have my ghetto avoidance technology turned on) and I did not see one police cruiser. Where I come from the police presence is stepped up on holiday weekends....I guess thats not the case here. Where the hell are all the police officers? I'm no genius but maybe a larger police presence may curtail some of these shootings?

I'm fairly new to the area, and I work down here as a service technican who is pretty much always on call. Well I got called out last night and I pretty much still rely on my GPS to get me around but the model I have doesnt have the Ghetto avoidance technology so of course it brings right down dodds, doddson, wilcox, and all the other scenic roads in chattanooga. I was actually a couple of blocks from where this shooting took place but I was there at about 9:30 pm. However, as I was driving home, it occurred to me that I had not seen one police cruiser, not one. Here I am driving through some of the worst areas of Chattanooga on a holiday weekend and there is ZERO police presence. Now I dont have a Phd in crimminal justice, but I would think that an increased police presence in these areas might help to deter crime. Where I come from the police departments were always out in full force on holiday weekends as they should be. Where the hell were all the police last night?

This is really getting to be unsettling, its one thing when drug dealers and gangsters are killing each other, who really cares. But when seemingly innocent people are being shot driving home from work, thats unacceptable. The Mayor needs to step up and commit more police officers to these troubled areas. I am fairly new to the area but I already know which streets/areas to avoid and I dont travel around the city late at night. If this continues, it will reflect poorly on the city and everythig from tourism to attracting new business will be affected. It is the Mayor's responsibilty to curtail the problem by increasing a police presense. I wonder if the man who was shot was a CCW holder. Had he been, we would have one less problem to worry about. I wish the gentleman a speedy recovery.

I would really like to see an airline offer non-stop service between Chattanooga and Atlantic City, NJ. Does anyone know if there are any plans for this in the near future?

While I am strong advocate for gun rights/ownership, I do believe concealed carry should be required for many reasons. I do not agree with the police asking the gentleman to leave in firearm in the vehicle if he had a permit to carry which he apparantly did. The gun isnt going to do much good in the car if some nut comes in the store waving a pistol and threatening to kill someone is it? Those poor people will have to wail 10 minutes for the police to arrive and the perp will have already been long gone.
