Noogan, I can agree with most of what you said. I disagree with the notion that "if in fact this is a 'minority' of the black community' yada yah. Really? Of course this is a minority of the black community. Do you think all black people belong to gangs? That's ridiculous. And law abiding, tax paying, non-welfare recipient, gainfully employed black people are just as much concerned as you and your white counterparts. However, to point out that crimes going on in white neighborhoods are not as visible is a moot point. All crime depletes our tax dollars and adds mayhem to our community. I don't think you are racist, by the way. I think that you are concerned and probably scared just a little. But so am I when I see hooligans downtown or anywhere else for that matter. What we all need to do is put pressure on our elected officials to deal with the problems that our city has instead of hiding them. We need to push for more officers because we simply don't have enough. We need to look at when the surge of activity occurred and look at how other police departments are dealing with it. I would venture to say that there is a solution, but we as a community have to be open to dialogue. My comments earlier were to deal with racist idiots who use platforms like this to spew garbage without the hope of finding real solutions. And, no, you may not be able to tell a group of young black thugs to knock it off, but you can go and volunteer at your local whatever. To help any child in this community is combating the larger issue. Kids of all colors need to know there is a life outside of the streets, gangs, and drugs. They need to learn the importance of education. And those of us that are fortunate to have one should be giving back - whatever that means to you. Not raising someone else's kid, but giving a child a glimmer of hope to realize that their life does not have to be their reality. There are options in the world.

oh,and Osama, it is quite obvious that you are not black. Black people don't use the word pecker to describe their member, for one. And for two, they don't have to brag about not holding the wall when they piss. NONE OF THEM HAVE TO, SO IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING. SMH...you are such a fraud. Don't hide behind the name Osama and make ignorant comments while portraying yourself to be something you obviously are not. Pathetic!

Osama, hopefully you realize that a black man is about more than what he pisses with. To those of you who refer to people as monkeys...careful, careful. It's easy to hide behind this computer screen and type racist remarks, but let me see you walk up to someone and call them that. You won't. You will just smile in their face and appear to be polite while being a bigot in your pea sized brain. Or you will pull the other cowardly move, and avert your eyes. The issue here does not know color. It is ignorance and lack of home training. And unfortunately, guys and dolls, that goes across racial lines and pay brackets. Just take a drive to Athens where they cook meth by the barrel. We all live in this community and we all are responsible for it - good, bad, and indifferent. Keep thinking that the "monkeys," or for those who failed first grade, "monkyes" will stay in certain parts of town. You are wrong. Soon they will be moving in next door to you. And if you move, you'll find yourself with another set of neighbors you're prejudiced against. So, we might as well all work together and make our community the best that it can be. Otherwise, get the hell out. Move! Because you are just as much a part of the problem as those fighting in the bars downtown.

Hanna, you are the worse kind of idiot. These were children and children of all colors who live in all neighborhoods play with matches, lighters and fire. This has nothing to do with upbringing, but rather fire education. So should people condemn the little surburban kids who drown in their parents' pools? Of course not! An ADULT would realize that no child is exempt from dangers related to discovery. Not mine and certainly not yours. So take that to your surburban pool and float in it.
