Great article Mark! The only reason why the AP Poll would not vote Utah #1 is what the BCS is all about in the first place, greed, a monopoly if you will which is exactly why our nation is in trouble now.
Another reason is if Oklahoma blast Florida which is what I'm sure Stoops is after, so there will be no question of who will be #1. Oklahoma and Utah have a common opponent in TCU but the Sooners defeated TCU easier than the Utes. The best I see Utah's ranking is #2, or #3 depending the outcome of UT/OSU.
A Florida win no matter the total won't matter to Utah because of the common opponent in Alabama of which Utah dominated more. The first scenario is still hard to argue because Utah is still 13-0.
Here's more argument for you. One of Utah's opponents was lowly MWC Wyoming Cowboys. However, Wyoming defeated SEC's lowly Tennessee Volunteers. Another parallel is that both coaches were lame duck coaches. Who's to say that the SEC was better than the MWC this year? The MWC played in the SEC's "backyard" in 2 games, and they won both. I thought the SEC was supposed to be the best college football conference in America? Competition belongs on the field.
