I personally found this article to be very offensive. I know Courtland personally and as a mentor to him and a positive influence in his life I know that he worked very hard to graduate and did so. He wants to give his life to serve our country and wants to move on to college and gain additional education but what did you do? You went to a mostly African-American school and tried to stereotype Howard students and put that Courtland is affiliated with gangs which is not true and what if someone read that and it caused him problems? Putting that he bought a gun as a child and wanted to commit suicide? Are you serious!!! Why would you post those things about someone who has overcome so much to do right and graduate? Those things were uncalled for. Why don't you visit some of the all white school and dig up dirt from those students instead of only Howard? And I am a white woman saying this. I am sure many white children do worse than the thing you put about Courtland. If you said he was "special ed" as you put it then why would you take advantage of that to make an article? Why not boost the positive attributes of those who graduated instead of making them feeling bad about themselves like you have Courtland. If you are going to talk about these children make sure you get an equal ratio of races because what I read was centered towards negative remarks towards black children and even as a whte woman I found offensive and racist.
