Don't kid yourselves...it isn't just Walmart. I was laid off from a good job processing group medical insurance claims two years ago when the economy tanked. The timing was horrible as I was in my mid-fifties at the time. I have since applied, several times, for a claims position at a rival company. I have passed the data entry tests and the interviews went well, according to the prospective employer, but I still received form e-mails each time thanking me for my interest, but other applicants were better fits. Almost nine years of processing claims and I am not a good fit? I knew I should have dyed my silver streaked hair before the interviews, but it is expensive and not me. I have always stayed with former employers for years and went almost fifteen years, at one stretch, without missing a scheduled day of work. A good work ethic used to be prized, but I can't turn back the clock.
