Every dollar spent on family planning saves the taxpayer $3.75 in future costs. It is unconscionable that the commissioners attempted to refuse these funds, particularly since a majority of their panel apparently didn't (or couldn't) understand the difference between emergency contraception and RU486. The Health Department does NOT provide any abortion services. It DOES provide urgent and necessary basic healthcare for thousands of women in our area. Call your Commissioner today! Women's healthcare should not be part of political grandstanding.
