I think Ms. Edna Taylor has summed everything up to a perfection. The Republican Party has become the party of intolerance. Who exploit religion, faith and anything else for selfish gain. Declaring "I'm a conservative" no longer has anything to do with faith, religion, values and principles. The term seems to have become a sly way of declaring, "I'm a racist and proud! I hate everyone and anyone who doesn't look like me and subscribe to my ideology!" There's nothing Christ like nor Christian about today's Republican Party. President Lincoln and his then party would disown today's party. The party of Lincoln and Lincoln himself would have nothing in common with today's Republican Party. They're an embarassment to the nation. to God, to their party and all forward thinking Americans.

"in this new environment?”

Considering race and class as factors in college admissions is not a new envirornment." It's as old as segregation, separate but equal laws(actually, unequal) and white only establishments. The net has just gotten wider.

Here's a suggestion: CHA hires a lot of outside contractors to maintain the lawns in public housing, make repairs etc. Why not offer those out of work tenants the opportunity to have those jobs and pay them instead? CHA use to hire individuals from right on the premises of public housing. It worked then, why can't it work now?

If an individual loses his*her job and their unemployment benefits have been exhausted they have no income coming in which means they can't pay their rent.

"rosebud said... What did Rhonda say that isn't true"

How about EVERYTHING! Rhonda is just the loud mouthpiece. It's her cheerleading squad behind her pulling her strings that's really in control. Dr. Scales efforts were sabotage for the simple reason of friends wanting their fellow friends to have the position. If it meant sabotaging the educational process for Chattanooga's children, then so be it. Question should be: When will Chattanoogans put a stop to being taken hostage by a handful of pack running idiots?

Chattanooga has long held the reputation of harboring a regressive, backwoods mentality. That's why so many of the smarter young people leave the area at first opportunity, and rarely if ever look back or even let it be known they are from the area. There's nothing in Chattanooga for them. Everything already been spoken for by the clicks and their offspring.

Davis and Hoss are friends of police. If there's even a remote chance of the appearance of a conflict of interest their taking the case should not be allowed. One would think the first order would be to ask for a change of venue. The Public Defenders were playing this by the book and following the rules. Maybe that's why they were rejected.

@Libertarians4Freedom said... Well, Malcom X did become a Muslim in prison, and so have many others. That's the truth, why do you deny it?

Maybe that's because of the way GOOD OLD "CHRISTIAN" AMERICA had long mistreated and abused them? All "christianity" taught the black man for centuries was how to remain on his knees, TO be a GOOD Slave(obey your "massah") and accept beatings. Remember slavery, segregation, Jim Crow and other oppressive American laws would not have existed without the sanction and approval of America's style of religion.

chet123, don't pay any attention. I learned a long time ago such attacks on ones grammar and spellings are attempts to silence the truth(ever notice they never attack the bad grammar and spellings of those who agree with them?). When I read some of what our local reporters and news anchor persons put into print, and they're suppose to be professionals, yours and my writings appear scholastic in comparison.

Hopefully, there isn't a homicidal maniac operating at the local jail. It couldn't be at all difficult to make a homicide appear to be a suicide. Since coroners work for the state and in direct contact with LE, they may not always be forthcoming or objectiionable in their findings.

A crime is a crime. You can't pick and chose which type crimes law enforcement should go after. Remember this is what many of you asked for. You just thought it would be the other guy from the other side of the tracks.

Maybe it's not a bad idea unless you're the homeowner having cough up 5G or 10G for a home that's probably worth no more than 20 or 30G. I doubt too if any buyers will be interested in buying a home in an area where they're likely to have to spend out an additional 5 or 10G to upgrade a home's sewer system.
