U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., held a news conference Wednesday to announce his plans to introduce a bill that would fund the rebuilding of the Chickamauga Lock. According the Alexander, the bill, called the "American Waterworks Act," would help to bring news jobs to Tennessee and raise the user fees on barge operators, while use of the lock would remain free for recreational use.
