Man shot and wounded on Wilcox Boulevard

A 20-year-old man who was shot Sunday afternoon on Wilcox Boulevard suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Javoris Akins was shot at 1700 Wilcox Blvd., and drove to the Mapco gas station at 1265 East 3rd Street, where police were called just after 3 p.m.

Akins' was shot in the shoulder and the foot, according to police.

Akins was taken to a hospital from the gas station as police established a crime scene and talked to witnesses.

No suspect information was available as of late Sunday afternoon.

Correction: The shooting took place on Wilcox Boulevard in the Bushtown neighborhood.
