Injured hiker rescued in Pocket Wilderness

The Mowbray, Sale Creek and Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Departments rescued an injured hiker in the Pocket Wilderness at the foot of Mowbray Mountain Saturday morning.

According to a release from Hamilton County Emergency Services, the hiker, a 22-year-old woman, had fallen off the trail and rolled about 15 feet. First responders arrived within thirty minutes.

Mowbray VFD Assistant Chief Dusten Woodard said the woman had minor abrasions and a sprained ankle.

A Sale Creek firefighter was injured during the rescue effort when he rolled his ATV. He sustained lacerations on his back.
