The most popular baby names of 2021 were released by the Social Security Administration on Thursday.

In the U.S., Liam and Olivia topped the list. Both names also ranked near the top of Tennessee's lists.

The Social Security Administration began compiling the annual baby name list in 1997, with names dating back to 1880. At the time of a child's birth, parents provide the name to the agency when applying for a child's Social Security card.
