Makenzie Smith and Ryan Abbott, both of Jefferson City, were married at 2 p.m., May 19, at St. Peter Church, Jefferson City. Father Greg Meystrik performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Joe and Shelley Smith, Jefferson City. The groom is the son of Doug and Jane Abbott, Jefferson City. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a fit and flare gown with lace appliques and illusion straps over a sweetheart neckline, and an illusion open back with buttons down the train. She carried a bouquet of white roses, baby's breath and greenery. The honor attendant was Maddie Smith, Jefferson City, sister of the bride. The attendants were Kelci Kroll, Jefferson City, friend of the bride; Claire Kampeter, Jefferson City, friend of the bride; Kelsie Strope, Jefferson City, friend of the bride; and Madison Abbott, Jefferson City, sister of the groom. They wore teal gowns unique to each with the honor attendant wearing charcoal grey. The best man was Tanner Abbott, Jefferson City, brother of the groom. The groomsmen included Kevin Douglas, Jefferson City, friend of the groom; Cody Poskin, St. Louis, cousin of the bride; Andrew Brenneke, Jefferson City, friend of the groom; and Colby Ross, Jefferson City, friend of the groom. The usher was Gage Poskin, St. Louis, cousin of the bride. Music was provided by Lesley Smith and the vocalist was Amy Pringer. The Mass servers were Tanner Mertens and Elias Mertens, both of Rolla. The lectors were Carol Kucsik, Linn Creek, friend of the family, and Paula Volkmer, cousin of the bride. Offertory was presented by Brooke and Stephen Poskin, St. Louis, godmother of the bride and spouse; Tim Smith, Kansas City, godfather of the bride; and Keith Abbott, Westphalia, godfather of the groom. A dinner and dance reception followed the ceremony at the Westphalia Lions Club. A rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom's parents, was held May 18 at their home. The bride is a 2013 graduate of Jefferson City High School, Jefferson City; a 2017 graduate of Saint Louis University, St. Louis, with a Bachelors of Science in Biology; and is currently a student in graduate program at Missouri State University, Springfield, pursuing a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies. The groom is a 2013 graduate of Blair Oaks High School, Jefferson City, and a 2017 graduate of the University of MO-Columbia with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. He is employed at Otscon. The couple took a wedding trip to Orange Beach, Ala.
