Mr. and Mrs. Lon J. Gates, Jefferson City, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today with a Mass at St. Martins Catholic Church, along with a family dinner celebration hosted by their children. Lon J. Gates and Anna Marie (Annie) Angenendt were married September 21, 1968, at St. Peters Catholic Church, Jefferson City. Rev. Norman Ahrens officiated. Mr. and Mrs. Gates have four children: JJ Gates and his wife Julie, Kim Straub and her husband John, Carey Brooks and her husband Tony, and Gary Gates and his wife Kerri, all of Jefferson City. They also have eight grandchildren: Hudson Gates, Brooke Straub, Grant Straub, AJ Brooks, Brett Brooks, Nicholas Brooks, Tucker Gates, Oliver Gates, and an angel grandchild in heaven, Claudia Gates.
