Mr. and Mrs. Steve Shimmens, Jefferson City, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in August with a trip to Maui, Hawaii. In addition, an open house celebration was held on Saturday, September 17 at The Courtyards at Cherry Creek Clubhouse, hosted by their children. Steve Shimmens and Barb Schwartze were married August 28, 1982, at Immaculate Conception Church, Jefferson City. The late Father Paul Hartley officiated. They were attended by Diane Dulle, Bentonville, Ark.; Brenda Petty, Hartsburg; Diane Wildhaber, Jefferson City; Joyce Swiatecki, Columbus, Ohio; Christy Garnett, Columbia; Rachel Collett, Marion, Kan.; Tom Shimmens, Jefferson City; Mike Shimmens, Jefferson City; Rob Goth, Jefferson City; Mike Johnson, Dallas, Texas; Todd Wiedenmeyer, Olathe, Kan.; Steve Schwartze, Jefferson City; and Kenny Wildhaber, Jefferson City. Mr. and Mrs. Shimmens have two children: Jennifer McBaine and her husband Brad McBaine, Jefferson City; and Adam Shimmens and his wife Leah Shimmens, Lee's Summit. They also have three grandchildren: Macie McBaine, Mollie McBaine, and Makenna Shimmens.
