With recent visits to the Nashville and Memphis areas, retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson has now apparently spent more time in Tennessee than any of his competitors for the Republican presidential nomination.
Carson campaigned Friday in Memphis and West Memphis, Ark., across the Mississippi River from Memphis. Arkansas, like Tennessee and six other Southern states, will hold presidential primaries on March 1.
Carson drew hundreds during a visit in Chattanooga last month.
In Memphis, he toured the National Civil Rights Museum and his national campaign posted a video on the visit, wherein Carson declared the experience "an absolutely wonderful opportunity" to review history and reflect that the nation has made much progress in racial equality, though "it also shows we have a whole lot of progress still to make."
