Officials say an off-duty Memphis police officer who died after being shot multiple times had been on the force slightly more than a year and had a fiancee who is four months pregnant.

Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong said 31-year-old Terence Olridge was shot on Sunday at a home in the suburb of Cordova. Olridge, who died at a hospital, is the second Memphis officer to be fatally shot in more than two months.

Olridge is also the fourth Memphis police officer to be fatally shot in slightly more than four years.

Armstrong says a male suspect is in custody but has not been charged.

He adds that the investigation is ongoing and that "details are sketchy." Police on Sunday blocked the street outside the house while they investigated.
