A 25-foot Cruiser boat caught fire at Island Cove Marina on Highway 58 Friday afternoon.

An Island Cove Marina resident saw the boat on fire and released the boat to force it out into the slough to avoid catching the entire dock of boats on fire, according to the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and no injuries were reported.

Fire officials reported the owners of the boat had been running the boat this morning, returned from the lake and left the marina. Moments later, they received a call from Island Cove Marina reporting their boat was on fire.

Damages are listed at $75,000-$80,000.

The Hamilton County Hazmat team is responding to the scene to contain a possible fuel spill from the charred boat.
