Three Chattanooga area restaurants received low scores after a Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department inspection.
Popeye's at 6104 Ringgold Road received a score of 77 after a recent health inspection found food debris on cleaned utensils and dishes, a soiled and dirty triple sink, dirty floors behind and underneath equipment and faulty paper towel dispensers at the hand basin, cook line and dishwashing area.
Baskin Robbins, 4767 Highway 58, was also given a score of 77 after an inspection found the owner eating and drinking in a food preparation area; the cooling vent in the freezer ceiling dripping on 4 gallon ice cream containers, creating ice on and around the product; ice cream stored in a back cooler with no cover for protection; and dirt around non-food preparation areas.
New York Pizza Department at 5731 Highway 153 received a score of 83 after an inspection found that the reach in cooler by the grill was the wrong temperature for temperature control for safety foods, a Windex bottle stored over a food preparation area, an employee's drink without a lid and straw in the food preparation area and a dumpster on dirt and gravel.
One area restaurant received a perfect score.
The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department inspects restaurants twice a year and grades the businesses on a 100-point scale. Scores below 70 require corrective action.
Restaurants are reinspected if they fail to meet critical standards. To file a health-related complaint, call the Department of Environmental Health at 209-8110. The scores are original and do not reflect on-the-spot changes, which sometimes lead to upward adjustments.
