A Harrison man is in custody following a pursuit early Tuesday morning, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

Hobert Hickman, 36, faces several charges after a deputy spotted him driving recklessly at "speeds higher than the posted limit" on Boy Scout Road at 2:37 a.m., according to a sheriff's office news release.

The reckless driving led the deputy to believe the driver could be impaired, so he attempted to stop the Jeep Wrangler. But the vehicle accelerated and a pursuit ensued.

The deputy chased the vehicle until it turned onto Tsatanuga Trail where, once reaching a dead-end, the driver drove the vehicle through a yard attempting to get back onto Moses Road.

At that point, the vehicle became stuck in a creek and Hickman got out and ran on foot.
