The latest business, school closings and delays Friday in the Chattanooga area

(UPDATE: Hamilton County schools opening on a two-hour delay Friday)

Many Chattanooga area schools will remain closed or delay opening Friday. Several area schools and churches, including Hamilton County Schools, closed Thursday due to threat of inclement weather or illness.

Hamilton County Schools were closed Thursday and will be operating on a two-hour delay Friday. School officials said flooding around creeks and streams will have a major impact on getting children to school and back home again.

The Gilmer County Health Department in Ellijay, Georgia, is closed Feb. 6 and Feb. 7 due to flooding, according to a news release.
