Here's what's happening in the Chattanooga area this week.
TO DO SUNDAY
- Be a tree devotee. Tennessee Tree Day has come and gone, but there's still time to reserve your bare-root seedlings for Plant a Tree for Tennessee, a statewide planting initiative coordinated by Green Interchange and the Tennessee Environmental Council. Participants must reserve trees by April 17. Volunteers will operate tree pickup locations the following weekend, including two in Chattanooga: 2-7 p.m. April 22 at Miller Park, 928 Market St., and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. April 23 at Firestone Complete Auto Care, 2205 Hamilton Place. The goal is to plant 10,000 seedlings across the state April 23-24. All of the available tree species are native to Tennessee - redbud, dogwood, sumac, oak and false indigo - and range from 1 to 3 feet tall. Cost is a $3 donation per seedling.
