One of the Chattanooga area's best-known golf courses is on the market.

Valleybrook Golf Course & Country Club has a list price of $3.4 million, according to commercial real estate broker Katie Ashley of RE/MAX Renaissance Realtors. The listing includes 139.3 acres at 180 Valleybrook Road in Hixson.

The course, designed by Charles "Chic" Adams, was built in 1959 and is among the oldest courses in the area, according to the broker.

Valleybrook, which is located about 11 miles north of downtown Chattanooga, has played host to nine PGA tour events. It offers a semi-private, 18-hole, par-71 course that spans about 137 acres. The course plays 6,713 yards from the gold tees, the broker said.

Improvements include a driving range, practice greens, multiple warehouse and storage buildings. In 2013, the course received new Bermuda greens, according to the broker.

Golf carts are not included in the offered price and must be negotiated or transacted separately.
