NASHVILLE — U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Rome, and her estranged husband, Perry Greene, have agreed to finalize their divorce, according to new filings last week in the Floyd County, Georgia, Superior Court.

Perry Greene, who filed for divorce in September, said in an affidavit for support of judgment that he and the congresswoman had on Dec. 13 "entered into a settlement agreement resolving all issues."

In a separate joint consent motion for judgment on the pleadings, Perry Greene and Marjorie Taylor Greene state they are "mutually requesting" the divorce be granted because the marriage is "irretrievably broken."

The court filing does not include the settlement agreement.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a 48-year-old businesswoman from Rome, ardent admirer of former President Donald Trump and self-described Christian nationalist, was first elected to represent Georgia's 14th Congressional District in 2020.

Her fiery style and promotion of various conspiracy theories both before running for office and since have put her in the national limelight. She has drawn criticism and generated controversy while winning followers and admiration from her supporters not only in Georgia but nationally.

Marjorie Taylor Greene easily won re-election in November to a second term over Democrat Marcus Flowers. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who during her first term had been blocked from serving on House committees under Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is expected to be appointed to the panels where hearings and much of the House's work is done. House Republicans are expected to take over in January after winning a narrow majority in the November election.
