Kendra Bell has coached a bunch of solid teams in her nine years as head girls' basketball coach at Signal Mountain High School.

However, this years Lady Eagles are setting school records with their best season yet.

Senior guard Cassidy Pawson was on fire as she made 5-of-8 3-point attempts -- all in the first half -- to lead a 52-44 District 6-AAA championship victory over Soddy-Daisy at East Ridge High School on Tuesday night.

Pawson tucked in her pocket pistols after her last long-range make. She was also the first to hold up the new piece of gold hardware after scoring a game-high 20 points for Signal Mountain, whose 10th win in a row improved their overall record to 25-5.

"So much has gone in to us getting to this moment," said Pawson, whose Lady Eagles had lost three straight district championships before Tuesday. "We really have an amazing coach and my teammates are just as amazing. This couldn't have happened if we weren't all working together from start to finish.

"To have the best season in school history means everything to us and we are going to continue to work and take this run as far as we can. I can't wait."

Signal Mountain sophomore Carlee Lowry -- who just recently surpassed 1,000 career high school points -- helped extend an eight-point halftime lead to 42-30.

Lowry was active on both ends of the court and scored 10 of her 16 points in the third quarter, in which the athletic 6-foot forward and tournament MVP went on an 8-0 scoring run herself to build a commanding 40-26 lead.

The Lady Eagles separated in the title game with outstanding play on the offensive boards, which was aided by senior Aubryn McKendrick, who had 10 points and as many rebounds to go with two blocks.

"The great season we're having is a tribute to all of our kids," Bell said. "We talked from day one about making this season special for our seniors. In my nine years I have been here all my girls have done an incredible job, but this team is a little different. They share the ball really well and really have fun out there and enjoy each other. We are going to celebrate this one and get back to work tomorrow. We aren't done."

Soddy-Daisy (20-11) was given a stellar performance by junior guard Alivia Hall, who scored 16 points with half dozen field goals and a 4-of-5 mark from the charity stripe. It was the Lady Trojans' first district championship appearance since 2007.

In the boys' championship, junior guard Matthew Sharpe hit a game-tying 3-pointer from the left corner with 2:26 left to play as Central went on a 25-10 run over the last 5:20 of the ball game to win its first district title since 2015 with a 75-67 win over East Ridge.

Sharpe scored a game-high 32 points, while Central (15-13) was also given a major jolt late from Ronye Watson, who hit a crucial 3-pointer and scored 12 of his 17 points in the final frame.

"Coach (Kantonio Davis) taught us to never quit," Sharpe said. "He built that mentality in us. We practice hard and work hard. That's all we know. We are going to bring it regardless. We all wanted to win together. We all built together around each other and made something special happen for this program."

East Ridge was led by Hasani Jackson, who had 21 points, while Tyree Smith had 19 and Cadion Harris made four first quarter 3-pointers on the way to scoring 16 points.
