The second-ranked Tennessee Volunteers were successful in their final tuneup before Southeastern Conference baseball play begins, whipping Lipscomb 10-0 Tuesday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Shortstop and leadoff batter Maui Ahuna went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, while seven Vols pitchers combined on the shutout. Zander Sechrist got the start and worked the first two innings.

"It's hard to predict how Tuesday affects Friday once you start league play, and sometimes there is no correlation," Vols coach Tony Vitello said. "The fact that we played a clean game and got a bunch of guys involved makes it a good feeling."

Tennessee's SEC opener will be Friday night at Missouri.

The Vols (15-3) blew the game open with a five-run second inning that contained Hunter Ensley's two-run home run and a three-run blast by Ahuna. Christian Moore produced his fourth multi-hit game of the season, and Dylan Dreiling launched a two-run homer in the fifth.
