Have you heard of ESPN The Ocho? If not, you're missing out. The Ocho, inspired by the comedy film "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story," is an annual day of programming dedicated to quirky sports. Its slogan is "If it's almost a sport, we've got it here."

So what is an almost-sport? Here are a few that've been featured on the channel: Stone-skipping; axe-throwing; arm-wrestling; pizza dough-tossing; and, this year for the first time ever, cornhole.

You'll have to wait until August 2020 for the next airing. But hey, think of all the training you could manage in those months. By then, you could be an almost-athlete ready for your big ESPN debut.

In other news, if you received a weird text from a friend, family member or ex this weekend, you're not alone. A telecom vendor says it's to blame.

And it's time to grab those crayons, paints and markers. Our annual wrapping paper design contest has begun, inviting students in grades 1-5 to create a design on an 8-by-10 sheet of plain white paper. The winning entry will be turned into actual wrapping paper and delivered with our daily newspaper. Readers can then wrap presents with that original artwork. Learn more here!
