Greening and preening

When I pulled into Lowe's parking lot this past Sunday, I gasped. After having driven through an eerily deserted downtown - where I passed only a couple of pedestrians and even fewer motorists amid the darkened restaurant windows - I found the Hixson home retailer's parking lot overflowing.

It seems all this mandated home time has led to some serious nesting.

Before putting on the pair of latex gloves that now lives in my car, I texted my friend who'd broken her own self-imposed house arrest to join my quest for housewarming decor: "You'll find me with the plants. And everyone else in Chattanooga."

We all could use an escape, it seems, even if it means finding it at home after practicing social distancing in the plant section at Lowe's. Once this is all over, you'll find me amid carefree fields of flowers thanks to our first story below.
