LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Police say a man has been arrested in a stabbing outside a Division of Family and Children Services office.

Lawrenceville police Capt. Greg Vaughn told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution the 67-year-old victim saw 29-year-old Clarence Howard of Lilburn walking and agreed to give him a ride Monday. The woman was riding with her daughter, granddaughter and great grandson. Police say Howard is the boy's father.

Vaughn says they parked at the DFCS office and everyone but Howard and the woman went inside. Vaughn says they got in an argument and Howard pulled a knife.

The woman was stabbed repeatedly and onlookers called police. Vaughn says the woman collapsed on a patrol vehicle and Howard surrendered.

Howard is charged with aggravated assault and child cruelty. The woman is in stable condition.
