A 16-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the shooting of David Green in Alton Park on Friday.

Officers were able to identify the teen with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service and found him barricaded in a home on the 3500 block of Clio Avenue, according to a police news release.

Initially he refused to come out of the home, but as a SWAT team and hostage negotiators were arriving on scene, he surrendered without incident, police said.

He has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Police are not looking for any other suspects in the shooting, which investigators believe is the result of an ongoing disagreement between the suspect and victim. Police did confirm Saturday afternoon the incident is believed to be gang-related.

"We believe this teenager is responsible for the cold and calculated attempted murder of David Green Friday afternoon," Chief of Investigations Edwin McPherson said in the release.

"Major Crimes Investigators were able to develop credible leads throughout the day. This information led CPD's Fugitive and Street Crimes Units to the suspect's location late Friday night."

"We are relieved a suspect was taken into custody without incident and is charged in this shooting. As always, the safety and well-being of our community members is CPD's first priority."
