Chattanooga police find woman's body in car trunk after Norcross Road crash

UPDATE April 7 at 9:29 p.m.: The body found in the back of the car was that of a 47-year-old woman who appeared to have a gunshot wound, according to a release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

The victim's identity will be released after her next of kin is notified, according to the release.

Officers say a police K-9 found a gun near the vehicle.

Police investigating a traffic crash on Norcross Road today found a woman's body in the car's trunk.

Chattanooga police spokeswoman Elisa Myzal said the call came in at 1:42 p.m. for a single-vehicle crash at 4200 Norcross.

The driver ran off but was caught by responding officers, Myzal said. Then they found the body.

She said no information was immediately available on the driver or the deceased woman.
