Storms cause wrecks in Hamilton, Marion counties

UPDATE at 7:30 p.m.: While most rush hour crashes have been cleared, traffic is delayed on Interstate 24 eastbound due to a wreck at Exit 181. The left lane is blocked.

Additional wrecks have been reported at the following locations:

  • The 10400 block of Dolly Pond Rd, with injuries
  • Bonny Oaks Drive
  • 9400 block of Standifer Gap Rd.
  • 600 block of Montlake Rd.
  • 2000 block of Cummings Hwy
  • Shallowford Road at Interstate 75 Exit 5 Ramp
  • 2300 block of Rossvile Blvd.

Afternoon showers in the region are causing fits on local roadways.

Interstate 24 is backed up considerably in both directions in both Hamilton and Marion counties, spilling over to cause delays on Interstate 75.

Several wrecks have been reported on Interstate 24 westbound near the 152-155 mile markers due to the severe storms, said a spokesperson from Marion County dispatch.

No injuries have been reported so far, and one wreck was reported involving five vehicles around the 155 mile marker, the spokesperson said.

A crash on State Route 153 northbound near State Route 319 is also causing delays.

Police are responding to reports of crashes with no injuries on Old Mission Rd. near Pisgah Ave., Westside Drive near 15th Ave. and Elder St., Siskin Dr. near E 3rd St., and Signal Mountain Rd. near Baylor School,

There are also reports of crashes with injuries on Gunbarrel Road near E. Brainerd Rd. and Dowlen Rd. near Dayton Blvd.

Several fallen trees have been reported as well.
