Suspect leads Hamilton County deputies on chase, crashes into vehicle for sale in car lot

A short pursuit by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office ended with the suspect crashing his vehicle into a car for sale at Fairway Auto Sales.

The chase began when a deputy noticed a vehicle being driven by a suspect, Derrick Bettis, routinely wanted for warrants on Colorado Street. The deputy attempted to pull the vehicle over, but Bettis sped away and refused to stop.

A pursuit ensued through Middle Valley until Bettis crashed his vehicle into the parking lot of Fairway Auto Sales, damaging one of the cars on the lot for sale.

Bettis fled on foot after the crash, but was eventually apprehended without incident.

Bettis is charged with felony evading and reckless endangerment. He also has outstanding warrants for aggravated assault, possession of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine in a vehicle.

Other charged are pending per the conclusion of the investigation.
