Two townhomes at Radius Mountain Creek Apartments caught fire Wednesday afternoon.

No one was injured.

The complex is located in the 900 block of Mountain Creek Road, and the fire started shortly after noon.

One unit was vacant, but plumbers were reportedly inside making repairs when the fire started, according to a release from the Chattanooga Fire Department. The other unit was rented, but the tenants were not home.

The two units were attached to a larger building containing six townhomes, according to the release.

The fire grew to the attic, and firefighters worried it would spread across the roof into the other units. Firefighters cut a long ventilation hole on the roof and kept it from continuing to spread. None of the other units sustained damage, according to the release.

An investigator ruled the fire accidental, but the cause is undetermined at this time. The dollar loss was estimated at approximately $120,000.
