Victim identified, person of interest in custody in Bradley County death investigation

UPDATE at 6:18 p.m.: Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Bradley County that was reported Monday afternoon.

One person of interest has been detained who James Bradford, a Bradley County Sheriff's Office spokesman, said is known to have been on the scene on Oakland Lane SE before fleeing from police.

He was found after a 30 minute manhunt and is being detained while investigators determine the sequence of events that led to the man's death.

"We're still trying to figure out what happened, Bradford said.

At 6 p.m. yellow crime scene tape still cordoned off a home on the corner of Oakland Lane and Sarasota Drive. Through the open front door, investigators could be seen examining the floor with flashlights.

Detectives are conducting a death investigation at a Bradley County home on Oakland Lane SE, confirmed James Bradford, spokesman for the Bradley County Sheriff's Office.

No information about the identity of the deceased person or the circumstances surrounding the death was immediately available Monday afternoon.

Bradley County officials are actively searching the area around Oakland Lane S.E. for a person of interest, Russell Lee Thirkildsen, 26.

Police ask the public to immediate call 911 if the suspect is seen.
