LATEST UPDATE: All lanes of Interstate 24 at mile marker 144 in Marion County have been reopened, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation's Smartway website.

A vehicle cargo fire earlier shut down both directions of I-24 between Kimball and Monteagle.

The right lane of I-24 eastbound is still closed and estimated to be clear by 5 a.m. CDT.

ORIGINAL STORY: A vehicle cargo fire has shut down lanes in both directions of Interstate 24 in Marion County, Tenn., between Kimball and Monteagle at mile marker 144, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation's Smartway website.

The incident was reported at 12:47 a.m. CDT and is estimated to be cleared by 5 a.m. CDT.

Eastbound and westbound traffic is affected with the roadway closed.

Information has been provided by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
