UPDATE: Lanes of Interstate 24 westbound are now clear at mile marker 178 at the U.S. 27 junction in downtown Chattanooga, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation's SmartWay website.

A jack-knifed tractor trailer closed westbound lanes of I-24 earlier this morning.

ORIGINAL STORY: A jack-knifed tractor trailer is blocking westbound lanes of Interstate 24 this morning at mile marker 178 at the U.S. 27 junction in downtown Chattanooga, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation's SmartWay website.

The incident was reported at 12:23 a.m. and is expected to be cleared by 5 a.m.

Westbound traffic is affected with the roadway closed. Eastbound traffic is not affected.
