A fire Tuesday morning claimed the life of a DeKalb County, Ala., woman at a home on County Road 386 in the Aroney community.

The woman has not been identified pending notification of her family. She was found inside the residence after firefighters from Aroney and surrounding communities extinguished the blaze that was reported at 9:17 a.m. CST, Sheriff Jimmy Harris said in a news release.

Sheriff's office and Alabama Fire Marshal's Office investigators are probing for the cause of the fire, Harris said.

"We would like to thank all of the fire departments and police departments that came to assist for their quick response and for all of the hard work that they do. It's always hard to lose a family member during this time of year," Chief Deputy Michael Edmondson said in the release. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to family."
