Officers responded to a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound about 1 p.m. Wednesday in the East Lake area, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.
Officers found Calvin Butts, 25, wounded inside his vehicle at the 2700 block of 4th Avenue.
Hamilton County Emergency Services took the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Butts said he was driving around St. Elmo when someone shot him.
Members of the Violent Crime Bureau are investigating this incident.
