A traffic shift Friday will affect motorists in the area where East Brainerd Road is being widened.
Traffic on East Brainered at the intersection of Hurricane Creek and Morris Hill roads will be moved one lane in either direction starting at 9 a.m. Friday, according to a news release from the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
Once the traffic is shifted, the contractor will begin excavating the area to the left of the center of East Brainerd Road from Morris Hill Road toward Fuller Road, the TDOT release states. Morris Hill will be closed from East Brainerd Road to about 300 feet to the north while the contractor excavates and rebuilds the road section. It is scheduled to reopen Oct. 18.
Traffic will be detoured using Banks Road to Igou Gap Road and back onto Morris Hill Road. The detour will be marked, but drivers are encouraged to obey the signs and pay close attention to changing conditions in the work zone.
