UPDATE: A 3-year-old child was injured after a shooting on the 7300 block of Valley Lane in Hixson, Tenn., according to a news release from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
The child was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The injuries do not appear to be life-threatening at this time, according to the news release.
Preliminary findings have found the child was injured after being left unsupervised near an unsecured firearm.
