A 39-year-old Fort Payne, Alabama, woman was killed and two others were injured early Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash in neighboring Jackson County.

Denise Santiago was driving a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix on Alabama Highway 71 around 4:20 a.m. Wednesday when her vehicle collided with a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, just two miles from the Georgia state line, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency spokesman Curtis Summerville said in an emailed statement. Santiago was pronounced dead at the scene.

Summerville said the driver of the truck and a passenger in it were transported to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries. Neither the driver nor the passenger were named and their conditions were not released.
